Inegy (Simvastatin + Ezetimbe)

What is Inegy?

Inegy is a new tablet which combines Simvastatin (a statin) with Ezetimbe (Ezetrol) which makes a potent cholesterol lowering drug.

What preparations are available?

Simvastatin 20 mg + 10mg Ezetimibe

Simvastatin 40 mg + 10mg Ezetimibe

Simvastatin 80 mg + 10mg Ezetimibe

Why a combination tablet?

People who have heart disease or diabetes often need to take many different medications. Combination preparations helps bring the overall number of tablets down. There is no other reason to prescribe a combination tablet other than convenience.

What are the side effects?

The side effects of Simvastatin and Ezetimbe are discussed in a separate document. The side effect profile would be that of the statin component.

How do I obtain it?

If you are already taking Simvastatin and Ezetimbe separately ask your doctor for a prescription for the combined tablet.
